my approach
If you're coming to me through a referral, then you've already heard how different this shoot is from anything offered elsewhere. It isn't a factory; I'm not shooting 5 people each day, everyone in front of the same roll-up door, doorway, or paper backdrop. The way I work is very labor intensive, but I feel personally invested in every session, and if I believe it makes for better photos I'll do it.
I work hard to give everyone something unique. I want each photo to create a feeling, to intrigue the viewer and evoke something of both your own character and of the characters you're interested in portraying.
I really believe it's a mistake to try to satisfy everyone. Maybe nobody will be offended; but playing it safe won't surprise, or move, or impress anyone either.
The agents and managers who send me their clients take that perspective; that the real risk lies in playing it safe and submitting a photo that looks like all the others.
